Spirit's Fire
 Question:
What
is the Spirit’s Fire?
Answer: The Spirit’s Fire is a fundraising event
undertaken by a handful of VIM (Volunteers In Mission)
to help raise funds to support mission teams both
locally and those traveling across the United States,
from the Michigan Conference’s of the United Methodist
Church, along with The Get In The Car mission teams.
The mission teams are part of a grass roots activity and
are working to be “the hands and feet of our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ”, traveling to aid in the
recovery from hurricane, flooding, and other natural
disasters.
These teams are made up of
individuals who have heard the calling and responded
with a “Yes, Lord, here I am, use me.” They invest
their own time, talents, monies, and energies to help
others who otherwise may have no hope.
As this event develops, our vision
continues to grow and expand along with the word of
mission teams organizing and traveling from Michigan.
Previously we have held this event in Michigan’s
beautiful Upper Peninsula, Along the Pere Marquette Rail
TO Trail system and in the Detroit area along Hines
Drive.
We are happy to announce that after
this years, 2010, event.
The Spirit’s Fire has found a home.
Stony Creek Metropark, located in
northern Macomb County. (Please see the NEWS page for
details of this years event).
Stony Creek has welcomed the Spirit’s Fire with
open arms. Along
with a paved riding/walking trail, Stony provides GITC
with a mountain bike trail, access to the Rail to Trial
system connecting Lake Orion, Richmond, Leonard and
Pontiac; Thereby
Opening the Spirit’s Fire to riders and walkers of all
skill levels.
We understand this event is time
consuming, physically demanding, and mentally
challenging. This is nothing compared to what the people
in need are experiencing. The people this even will be
helping have been dealing with their situation for
months if not years. They need our help. We can be there
for them.
Individuals just like you make this
event possible. There are no corporate affiliations,
national campaigns, or profit making intentions in this
event nor do we want them. To be successful we need your
help. Time, pledges, RIDERS, donations of supplies for
the riders and most importantly PRAYERS of all involved
for the safety and focus on the goal of spreading
Christ’s word in the best way we know of…. By
Example!
Please pray for the participants for
a successful and safe ride, and that they may be a great
witness for our Lord.
This event will last for a few days,
cost a few dollars, and be remembered for a lifetime.
