This is a request for volunteers to assist in Fond du Lac, WI to cleaning up homes from the flooding June 13, 2008

Over the Fourth of July weekend a team of 6 ERT volunteers from Michigan (Bob & Lisa McCormick, Eric & Kathy Miller, Christie Bowden, and Jeanine Creamer) traveled to Fond Du Lac at the request of Pastor Ellen Rasmussen, (Disaster Response Coordinator for the Fond du Lac area).

Only a week previous was there confusion, a sense of overwhelming odds about even finding the beginning and as most of us have experienced at one time or another that dreaded fear of the unknown. Christ had other plans for Pastor Ellen and a team of six from Michigan. Contacts were made, travel arrangement organized and off they went.

Two Homes were worked on, with one possibly being saved from the wrecking ball and the other made cleaner for the woman who is currently still living in the home. We scrubbed floors, removed soaking wet insulation and saturated wood. Removed ruined appliances, a water softener and a hot water tank that were submerged during the flood. It was hard work, but in that two days of work and a day of worship a glimmer of hope was given to the people of the Fond du Lac area.

The trip was a huge success, not so much in the work that was done ( as the need is so great) but that the church where we stayed has been so encouraged by the presence of the team, that they are opening their doors to make the church a base camp for future volunteer teams. They have graciously decided to provide food, supplies, and showers for volunteers. And a place to worship on Sunday. Praise God!

This all transpired between the time the first half of the team departed for home on Sunday and the other half arrived home Monday evening.

This area is in deep need. The residents need to see that ray of Hope that volunteers can provide. I cannot express to you how important our presence is in this recovery effort. ERT teams while certainly the best trained to handle this type of activity, need to be supplemented by other volunteers.

We must send as many volunteers as we can. If you know folks that would like to go and help, please contact me and I will set them up with a team, they need not be ERT trained.

July 10-13th Jeannine Creamer will be taking a team (departure date to be determined as the team organizes).

The following week Eric Miller will lead a team.

The week after Shelly Thornton will lead a team.

If you want to lead or go on a team email Bob McCormick and we will match you up. The body of Christ needs you.

The scheduling of these teams is to be decided as the volunteers organize. Teams consisting of 6-8 people are ideal.

The teams run a shorter time frame from departure to return home usually 4-5 days total.

THIS CALL OF HELP GOES OUT TO ALL OF YOU FROM ANY CHURCH, ANY CONFERENCE, ANY DENOMINATION.

As stated this is not ERT specific.
